Job Description & Other Information

1.     Identifying, developing and driving strategic corporate initiatives by utilizing category management data, tools and principles along with internal shipment and trade spending tools. 

2.     Analyzing and making recommendations on existing company and market initiatives. i.e. Creation and maintenance of an internal portfolio pricing and promotion management analytical platform – with accurate and timely delivery of platform, findings and recommendations.

3.     Participating in corporate and customer meetings as an “expert” in the field of category management.

Detailed responsibilities include:

·         Providing complex metrics and analytics to provide insight on market, channel & consumer dynamics, supporting an aggressive growth plan.

·         Performing competitive analyses by category, channel, brand and package to identify trends, opportunities and challenges to core business areas.

·         Performing category and channel analysis to provide consumer and business insights to headquarters and field teams thru the analysis of syndicated data, sales trade and shipment reports

·         Working closely with Company’s customer dedicated Sr. Category Development managers in developing strategic business plans for achieving category volume, margin contribution, market share and space targets.  

·         Providing program evaluation and analysis to headquarters to support spending accountability.

·         Assisting in all requests by senior staff for information and presentation support to drive sales or defend sales position in an extremely dynamic environment.

·         As needed, participating in key sales presentations to retail customers as credible expert in category management practice.

Requirements:

 ·         Strong working knowledge and understanding of Syndicated POS data, Panel data, Spectra, Shelving standards and principles and other syndicated information systems is required.

·         Very strong ability to filter through multiple data sources including syndicated, trade spend and consumer research to build strategies that drive results.

·         Understanding of trade fund management is preferred

 This position actively participates in the development of sales strategy by providing management with complex analytics and insight to consumer, market and program dynamics that support a very aggressive growth plan. This position interfaces with corporate at several levels of the organization, Category Development, Marketing and Customer Marketing counterparts, Field Sales management, and Sr. Management.

·         BS/BA required

·         CPG experience

·         Working knowledge of syndicated data required.

·         Channel Strategy Development
